LO4 - Screening

LO3 applying appropriate visual effects and transitions

We used a fade to black transition and a black screen to end the film instead of it just cutting off as we aimed to make it professional.

We have lined up the recorded footage with the recorded sound as the clip on mic couldn't pick up the sound properly at the gig so we added cutting clips to sync the footage in time with the song as they are at different speeds before.

In this part of the video we used a black out transition which allowed us to make the footage more smooth with the effect splitting different clips

We are editing the heartbeat sound effect into the spaces where the clips have been cut which will allow us to add in black outs with the band walking out to the stage which will allow us to create an effect introduction.

Lo2: Evidence of Appropriate Equipment Setup

We are setting up the camera to film in corporation, the lighting is very purple because that is the colours of the lights used around the stage to give the room a complete different colour which looked effective for our music video which came out well on the camera when filming the band on stage.

LO2 - Following production processes

We have managed to follow the production schedule without any problems apart from the fact that we had a lot of time left towards the end which we spent going over our blogs to check and improve anything that needs improving or adding if we have forgotten anything.

LO3 The Apporitioners Offline Edit

We have completed the offline edit for our Apportitioners short film documentary and found that a few key bits need to be added before this can be our final video. There are sound effects which need adding at the beginning to fit with the moment of there hearts beating with excitement and some being nervous before they're about to play in front of a big crowd with fades needing to be added to make the transitions better.

This footage is of the band playing on stage. Like the rest of the live audio, it is very poor as without all the correct microphones and other equipment to capture this. So instead we have decided to get the songs they have recorded and put them over the top to make it sound and look better. We see a few camera shots, however all consist of the all 5 members of the band (even if the drummer is a little out of sight). We can see a little of the crowd stood watching the band perform for them. The footage is very blurry in points and shaky at times, however over all this is very good bit of footage and a lot of it will be used across the final product. I would rate this footage at a 4/5.

However this footage is a lot blurrier than the last one, so we will have to  be careful with what we use on this as it will probably be used for cut aways as the songs played on this one are mainly ones that are covers of well known songs which they do not actually record, so we would not be able to get good audio for it. Overall I would rate this footage at 2/5

I would rate this footage at a 3/5.

This footage is not as blurry as the second lot, however it is over light, but this can be addressed in premiere. at 1:22 we see the lead guitarist jump, this will be good footage to use as it is very rocky and would be good for a cut away. I would rate this footage at 4/5.

This is footage of the crowd entering the venue, originally we planned to use as a time lapse however after reviewing it will probably be used as a cut away from the poor bits of footage of the band playing on stage. This will also add some affect to the final product and also show viewers that they get a lot of people come see them. Overall I would rate this footage at 3/5.

Overall I would rate this footage at 4/5.

This is the footage of the interview of the band. Some of the footage is unusable due to taboo language and messing around from band and interviewer. However this helped the band feel more at home and give us a more relaxed interview. There are serious responses as well as the mess around so this footage will be used, the mess arounds will be used as cut arounds as well, to add a quirky feel to the film. This one is the rehearsal filming to see how they responded to gigs. Overall i would give this a 3/5.

LO2 - Following safe working practices

Following safe working practices 

We have followed safe working practises by creating a risk assessment which we followed on the night of filming which allowed us to be safe and keep all equipment protected so it didn't get damaged or any of us in any trouble. We avoided a lot of the risks by parking just around the corner from the venue which meant we only had to walk for a minute to the venue which minimised the risk of being mugged. We anticipated people to go near the tripod which could have meant the camera being knocked off the tripod but there was a few of us who went which meant we could stand around the tripod to stop people going near it but people were respectful and stayed away from where the camera and tripod was. There was a few risks which didn't come up like people didn't throw any drinks into the crowd which allowed us to keep the equipment safe and we stayed in the corner of the room when extending the tripod which avoided people knocking it or getting pushed into it.

We only filmed the band at one location which was at corporation but it was the perfect opportunity to not only film them headlining the event but to get an interview backstage with a perfect setup where we could fit all the band in which would lead onto them walking out of there to head onto the stage. The advantage of getting the interview before they actually go out is that we can see what there reactions are like and get them to tell us what they're feeling like before they head onto stage to play in front of a big crowd. The filming was spaced out over the night by a few hours when we was there as we had to wait for the other bands to finish which they hyped up for the crowd for the main headlining band.

1. Rope a dope - Wake, Fight, Repeat 

A. There are a lot of different camera angles used like mid shots and close ups which allow the audience to see the facial expression of the characters as the audience has to see what the character is feeling from his facial expression as there is no talking throughout the short film. There is a lot of long shots used when the character is walking down the streets so we can see more of the location, it also shows long shots when the character is training to defeat his enemies which we see when he's climbed halfway up a utility pole doing pull ups which shows how much he has trained up to be able to do. We also see long shots during fight scenes where we can see the location and a lot of the characters after they've been hit by the character whether they've been knocked down or trying to get back up cause they're hurt. We see the same angles when the character is waking up because it is meant to be a repeat which is what it wants the audience to think that he is constantly going back in time.

B. The narrative of the short film Wake, Fight, Repeat is about a man who lives a normal life by waking up, having breakfast and walking to the shop but a local gang knocks him out as they are The Martial Arts Mafia. They knock him out and he wakes up back in his bed on the same day but he remembers everything what has happened the previous time before he was knocked out so he can prepare for the next encounter he has with the Martial arts mafia. He keeps going to the mafia and getting knocked out time and time again but each time he manages to get further because he remembers what shots they're going to throw at him so he knows how to counter and attack them back. He realises that he needs to train so that he can prepare to take on all the mafia so we see in the story that he finds people to train with where he can learn material arts and become better than his enemies. Towards the end of the story he defeats the leaders follows and takes on the leader himself
in a long battle where he eventually wins and knocks the leader out but as a twist we see the leader wake up in his bed which we assume it has had the effect on him now.
C. The character "Dope" develops quite a lot in the short film from start to finish with him being lazy towards the beginning like when the character wakes up he struggles to reach the alarm clock
 and gets up slowly with no enthusiasm at all. The character is that lazy at the beginning that he hasn't even been bothered to walk to the shop to get in date food which has gone off as we can tell by the face expression of the character when he screws his face up in disgust. He then finds some old clothes which we can throw on as he doesn't even put shoes on he puts sandals on early in the morning to walk to the shop where he isn't that awake or paying attention as the newspapers is thrown and hits him in the face where we can tell he wasn't expecting it, once he walks out of his house he doesn't notice a box on the floor and hits his foot on it and kicks his sandal off. Once he walks round the corner of the food place he bumps into the Mafia for the first time and  he gets knocked out and in his bed he's more awake and wondering what has happened with him smelling the out of date food again but remembering as he had already smelt it because he didn't want to smell it and lifted it up slowly as if he was expecting it and he put the same clothes on to go out and was hit by the newspaper again as he was expecting it but this time he opens it up to see the front cover about the Martial Arts Mafia. He walks out of his house this time and misses the box on the floor by walking around it. He goes to the food shop like normal and walks round the corner and misses the Mafia but the leader of the Mafia knocks his food and drink out of his hand and uses the same hit he did last time but the character knew it was coming and blocks it but then is knocked out again. The character repeats this by going back but headbutts the leader before he can do anything but then is knocked out by one of his accomplices. He then starts to get annoyed of waking up and begins training by running, training with a karate master and his son, doing pull ups and other training to prepare.
E. The production has had a lot of effort put into it to make it look good with characters, scene and location remaining the exact same when the character goes back in time with the sound effects matching perfectly to when the character does something like get his with a newspaper or his drinks are knocked out of his hand. He then changes his clothes half way through when he's getting better and training which remain the same till the end of the short film when he puts his final battle clothes on.

D. There isn't a script used in this short film as there is constant music used all the way through it with the music relaxing and slow as it plays through his daily life but during the fight scenes, when the paper is thrown at him, alarm clock on side of his bed and few other scenes there is sound effects put in but during the fight scenes there is still music playing in the background whilst the music gets more intense and faster as the fight goes on.

2 . Danny Macaskill - The Ridge

 A. There is a lot of different angles in the documentary like close ups angles at the beginning of the documentary where we can see the paddle moving in the water with part of the boat in the camera which is in focus but the rest of the boat, paddle and water is blurred. We see on the part that the boat leading up to his feet are in focus so we can see the movement which is required to row the boat. There are also a lot of close ups when we see the angle from his go pro where we can see it from his perspective whilst he's riding his bike up the mountains. We see a lot of mid and long shots which allows is to see the landscape and location in what the rider has climbed up or has to climb up, we can also see a big long shot at the start which shows the location of some of the mountains he will be climbing on his mountain bike and the scenery all around with nothing there incase he was to fall so nobody can help him. The long shots are also taken when he's reached the top and has to go to a narrow pathway where there is a massive drop at the side of him.
B. The narrative is about a mountain biker named Danny Macaskill who wanted a challenge and something more exciting so he got a boat and put his mountain bike in, he returned to his native home of the isle of Skye in Scotland where he climbs up the mountain with his mountain bike and goes to the very top and the highest point on the highest mountain to search for an exhilarating death-defying ride.  He teams up with red bull to film the whole experience from start when hes rowing over the icey waters to climbing up to the top where some parts he had to carry his bike as it was impossible to ride up certain parts which ended with him cycling to the very bottom after completing his long and tiring journey.
C.  The character starts off as this man on a journey who almost looks tiny against the mountain he has to climb but he has great ambition and won't stop until he gets to the top and concurs one of his goals and ambitions. We can tell as the audience when he's rowing over to the mountains that he's thinking about the journey which lies ahead which won't be easy be he in mentally preparing for the journey. We can see when he hits the top of the mountain that he has the look on his face that he has completed a goal and reached the very top which he has dreamed of doing but then his face expression changes as he has to get back to business and cycle down the dangerous paths and rocks back down to the bottom where the cameras follow him down until he hits the shore line and sits down to rest and have a moment to think about what he has down which is a goal of his climbing up a  mountain.
D. Danny Macaskill begins at the start by introducing the audience to where he is and why he's doing what he's doing by saying: "Growing up in sky has always been an inaccessible place its incredible in Cuillin ridge.
always wanted to know if i could ride my mountain bike up there" Once Danny has given the idea and set the scene of where he is and why he's doing it he doesn't talk for the rest of the journey up the mountain but has powerful music playing in the background which connects with the audience as if he's trying to achieve something with the music wanting us to come closer and want us to want him to complete his journey and reach the top as it is something he has wanted to achieve.
 The music which is played is Blackbird which is by Martyn Bennett which makes us think we're on the journey with him.
E. The production has had a lot of effort put into it with each camera angle having a purpose whether it show the character rowing to the bottom of the mountain to climbing up the mountain to the mountain itself by showing how tall it actually is and coming back down again. Danny, who is the rider doesn't change his clothes as he is showing that he has climbed the mountain and rowed to the island where it is in one day.

3. Sheffield Another Angle - Short Documentary

A.  There is a lot of wide shots used in the documentary especially in the middle and end with a few at the start to show the river with different animals in it with other shots showing lots of the countryside scenery with different animals in it. There are a few close ups which are used to show the ducks in the river which we can see each bit of detail of the duck and there are close ups of the leaves on the trees. There are also mid shots and wideshots used when the presenter is talking to the camera with the scenery behind him.
B. The narrative of the documentary is trying to show a different side of Sheffield then what people always see which are buildings everywhere and used to be industries without any parks.  The presenter is showing a big countryside with rivers and lots of animals which are free to roam around with the presenter also standing in front of the camera to talk about what the camera is showing us like the scenery and animals.
C. The character starts off by talking about how there used to be  industries and thick smog in the air which is showing concern but then he goes on to talk about the wildlife in the countryside and all the parks which have been built in Sheffield where he talks about how good it is and brought more wildlife to the city. The presenter then tries to open our eyes by telling us to look in our gardens as there could be all types of animals instead of watching them thousands of miles away on TV.
D. There is a script which is followed in this documentary with a lot of the speaking over different clips where the documentary is showing you different scenery and animals where the character is speaking over that. In some parts of the documentary we can see the presenter in front of the camera  talking to us which we can tell that the audio isn't pre recorded where you can hear the wind and animals making noises behind him whilst he's talking.
E. The production process has had a lot of effort put into it where we see the presenter for the first time in the middle of the night where he's talking to us with us seeing him in the next few clips presenting to us during the day in front of the animals in exactly the same clothes.
